The appsyou keep.

dymn makes small software for the things people already do every day. One problem per app. No ads, no accounts, nothing collected. Bought once.

How we build

Four rules we do not trade away.

Most software gets worse as it succeeds. It adds, it asks, it watches, and one day it starts charging by the month for the thing it already sold you. These four are written down because rules you have not written down are only preferences.

01

One problem per app

A packing list stays a packing list. It does not grow into a travel suite, a feed or a monthly bill. When there is a second problem worth solving, we build a second app.

02

Nothing is collected

No account to create. No analytics, no advertising identifier, no profile. Where an app syncs, it syncs through your own iCloud or Drive, so the data never reaches us because there is nowhere for it to arrive.

03

Bought once

One payment, or nothing at all. We would rather you forgot you ever paid us than remembered it on the first of every month.

04

Built from real use

Every app here started as a problem someone had often enough to count. Not a gap on a market map. A habit, with a friction in it.

The apps

Five so far. Each does one thing, then leaves you alone.

All I Need

Available now

Close the bag with confidence.

Packing is not a memory problem. It is a maths problem with a weather forecast attached. All I Need starts with where you are going and when, reads the real forecast, works out how many of each thing a trip of that length needs, and then tells you what you are about to forget.

It knows how many Quantities come from rules, not guesses. A three week trip does not ask for twenty one shirts.
It reads the forecast Rain on three of your five days. A nine hour flight. An eighteen degree swing between noon and midnight.
It knows nothing about you No account, no server, no analytics. It never asks where you are.

swach

Coming soon

Say it once. It comes back.

A thought arrives while you are doing something else. You type one line and say when in your own words, in the same line. It reads the time out of the sentence and shows you what it understood. Then it goes away, and at that moment it comes back carrying its own colour. There is nothing to file it in, because there is nothing to organise.

One line does both The note and the time in the same sentence. Tomorrow, Friday at eight, the thirtieth at midnight.
Colour is how you find it Two hundred of them, and a note keeps the one it was given. You do not remember the one about the passport. You remember the pink one.
No account, no server Notes sync through your own iCloud and reach nobody else.

Worlds Apart

Coming soon

Your work and your life, worlds apart.

A to do app that holds two sealed worlds, Work and Life, and shows you only the one you are in. While you are in one, the other does not exist. Tap the world's name and the whole surface inverts. It is not a filter over one list: the other world is a separate store, and nothing in it can be seen, searched, counted or heard from where you are standing.

Two sealed worlds No unified view, no combined search, no notification that crosses. Work and Life never meet.
One screen What is real now is on it. Everything else is one pull away, and none of it counts against you.
Nothing keeps score No badges, no streaks, no progress bars. Empty is a normal state, not an achievement.

Where your data is

On your phone.
That is the whole mechanism.

Not encrypted on our servers. Not anonymised in a warehouse. There is no server and there is no warehouse. What an app knows stays on the device that knows it, and if it moves, it moves through an account you already own.

This website is a different thing and gets described honestly: it counts visits, so we know whether anyone is reading it. Our apps count nothing, which is the promise that actually matters. Both are set out on the privacy page.

The story

Seven of us, and never once
all in the same room.

dymn is seven developers working across time zones. That sounds like a constraint and is closer to a method: when one of us stops, another is starting, and whatever we were arguing about gets a night to settle before anyone answers it. It also means no single country's habits get to decide what normal looks like.

So the question we keep coming back to is not what a market wants. It is what a person, anywhere, would actually want on a Tuesday morning. It turns out to be almost the same thing everywhere.

Somewhere right now, someone is packing a bag

dymn started with a bag. I travel most weeks, for work and not for work, and for years I packed from memory and paid for it at the other end. A charger in the wrong country. A coat for weather that never came. The problem was never that I had forgotten how to pack. It was that packing is arithmetic and a forecast, and I was doing it from feeling.

So the first app is the one I needed. The next one will belong to somebody else on the team, or to somebody who described their Tuesday to us so precisely that we could not stop thinking about it. That is the whole selection process, and we would rather say it plainly than dress it up as a methodology.

Nobody here is building for a persona. We are seven people who use phones, tablets, and laptops all day and have the same small irritations as everyone else, and the shortest route to a good app has been to fix one of ours properly rather than research one of yours badly.

Support is answered by the people who wrote the software, not by a help desk. Slower on a bad day. Better on every other one.

The name means always. It is the promise the software has to keep: that it will still be there, still work the same way, and still not want anything from you.

The catalogue

We do not announce an app until it works.

There will be more, on phones, on desktops, in the browser. Each will solve a single thing people already do, and each will arrive when it is finished rather than when it would be convenient to talk about.
